The Haitian president says he believes thousands of people may be dead.  And the International Red Cross says a third of Haiti’s 9 million may need help.
-- We reckon that there’s at least 3 million people potentially affected.  So we expect a lot of people displaced with their own homes destroyed.  So emergency shelter and emergency medical, as well as search and rescue, are our key priorities right now.

The U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is also saying the number of casualties may be very high.
-- We are yet to establish the number of dead or injured, which we fear may well be in the hundreds.  Medical facilities have been inundated with injured.
And the U.N. says more than 100 people are missing in the rubble of the U.N. headquarters building alone in Haiti.
